So I learned on Monday to go in early and get set up prior to the class entering the lab. The plan for Tuesday was to go in during periods 3 and 4 (my planning) and load the video files onto the computers in R's room that could handle them. This seemed perfect and R was a huge help. The only problem was our computers were so antiquated that in 2 hours of time not all the videos had downloaded! These were clips! They may have totaled less than 10 minutes each! I would have thought maybe 20 minutes at most. A couple computers had to be left to finish overnight. The kids were good and understanding. I again had them work on the other parts of their videos. I came to the realization that I really won't be able to do this project again next year as our technology doesn't support it and that really saddens me. Many thanks go out to R and also to E our media specialist for their efforts and time in trying to get this project working!

Hi Cindy- I understand your frustrations when it comes to technology, espically when our school does not have the proper equipment to support the lesson. That's too bad that you won't be able to do this project again, I thought it was really great. I am sure the kids loved doing something a little bit different in math class. I also use technology a lot in my class. In fact, I had the laptops for two weeks before they went to you. Typically, I have to change my lesson a bit every year to adjust to the ever-changing technology. This year the problem was students forgetting to bring in their flashdrive. Luckly, I was prepared and had two back-ups. I hope this experience doesn't prevent you from trying other new things in the classroom. Good Luck!
