Video-ing math

Right now I am listening to my students have awesome discussions. They are planning storyboards and writing scripts. Yes, this math. Today we have begun working on math videos of constructions. Constructions is a math topic I struggle with every year. It is boring and there are very few real world applications. Mainly the topic is to prepare them for geometry in two years. This year I decided they would create a video that demonstrates how to do a construction. Their video will comprise of two constructions- one basic and one more complicated. Today they worked on their script and storyboard/outline. Tomorrow we will film and Friday we will edit. Today went much better than anticipated. They seem really excited. Tomorrow will be interesting. This could go really well or really poorly.

Here is the handout explaining the project:

c Create a script for the narrator

c Create a story board
